I am very sorry for the pain in your heart. It probably even hurts to breathe. I can relate.
You and I both know that losing a furry companion is nothing like losing one of the beloved humans in our lives. While I am no stranger to loss and overcoming challenges, the sudden death of my sweet Wellington boy (pictured here) was truly the deepest heartbreak of my life.
With his loss came a deep emotional whiplash and I started wondering how many people have been walking with a bullet in their heart, missing their beloved companions with their soul?
As a way to honor Wellington's legacy, I put myself through the training to become a certified Pet Bereavement Counselor, with the esteemed Association of Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB), and the approval of the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB).
Supporting people who are going through this harrowing heartbreak and helping them through their grief is truly fulfilling.
As I was experiencing Wellington's loss, my dear friends and family were trying to be helpful, but nothing they could say or do would console me. It hurt too much to even breathe. Some of their well-meaning advice was even frustrating and irritating. I wanted the world to just stop. After a period of isolation, I read every book & blog I could find, attended several group counseling with little respite to my anguish, which is when asked myself the question: with over 160M cats and dogs in the US (more than children!), how many people are walking around with a hole in their hearts, and what support is there to help them?
I can support you through this heartbreaking experience. Text me with a photo & name of your pet at 310-625-7462 to set up an initial session - we will go at your pace.
If you are not working, or are buried in vet bills for the pet you just lost, you can apply for a sliding scale. It's understandable that you are feeling such pain and I never want money to stand in the way of healing. In kindness, Pina
